Specific tools are needed to analyze the samples taken during the sampling process. Select one of the tools below to learn more about it, including when and where it is used during the Sampling Process.

The High-Range DO Meter

The high-range dissolved oxygen meter performs a very important quality check on wort heading to the fermenter. Contrary to the goal of low oxygen after fermentation, proper higher levels of oxygen in wort impact yeast health, yeast health, and the final flavor profile.
High-range in this case refers to approximately 0.1-45 ppm, with wort typically falling in the 8-10 ppm range. These high-range instruments are typically optical instruments, measuring a particular wavelength of light given off by oxygen when exposed to another wavelength of light. Suppliers, such as Anton-Parr and Pentair Haffmans, manufacture high-range dissolved oxygen meters geared toward the brewing industry.
